Access and accessibility are two very different things. At Cogent OA, as well as promoting access for all, we aim to make our services – from submitting a manuscript to reading an article online – as inclusive as possible, maximising accessibility for everyone.
The Cogent Series is made up of 15 broad-scope, multidisciplinary journals that publish across the breadth of their subject areas, enabling us to find a home for all sound research and promoting collaboration across different fields. This widens the potential readership and visibility of your paper.
Our straightforward submission process is easy to navigate and comprises four simple steps:
- Manuscript upload
- Topic of the article
- Author information
- Freedom APC
We also operate a Format Free model, which means that you can upload your research in any standard format, including Word, rich text format (rtf), open document format (odt), LaTex and PDF.
Even after publication, we make sure that our articles are accessible to everyone:
- All PDFs use a reader-friendly font called FS Me, a special typeface designed to aid readers with learning disabilities, such as dyslexia.
- Public Interest Statements, which feature on every article, summarise research outcomes in an easy-to-read paragraph. This makes your research more accessible for researchers outside of your subject area, as well as the general public, to aid engagement and impact.
- Cogent OA is part of the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC), a collaboration between scholarly publishers, researchers, and other interested parties to promote the unrestricted availability of scholarly citation data.
